About

The Canberra Writers Festival returns with a stellar line-up of over 160 local, national, and international writers, journalists, commentators, and leading thinkers appearing across 70 lively events at some of the nation’s most iconic venues. Now in its seventh year, the festival is part of the country’s cultural fabric — a dynamic literary event that feeds the capital’s love of words, ideas, and debate. Under their recurring theme of Power, Passion, and Politics, they aim to scrutinise today’s most pressing issues, reflect on the past, contemplate the future, and expand their understanding of it all. Their signature opening night (a gala dinner with Jane and Jimmy Barnes sharing food from their own specially prepared menu) and closing night event (‘Light Bulb Moment’) will bookend four inspiring days of author panels, intimate one-on-one conversations, topical National Press Club breakfasts, fun children’s events, and mouth-watering ‘Novel Grazing Lunches’.
