About

An exhibition by Fiona Pfennigwerth of naturalistic watercolour works depicting the regions of Tasmania, The Kimberley WA, Gariwerd (The Grampians) Vic, The Red Centre NT and The Hunter, NSW, and their flora and fauna. These works are a selection from 50 panels (around 250 illustrations) that are reproduced in the artists recently self-published book, The Book of Psalms illuminated. Many of these artworks are botanical illustrations of Australian flora, some sketched in the ANBG, the Botanic Gardens in Hall’s Gap and Darwin, the Desert Park in Alice Springs, and in their natural habitats. They aim to showcase the beauty of our flora, and place it within its various habitats. The book uses the illustrations to connect an ancient (3,000-year-old) poetic collection to a contemporary audience, using their visual subjects to suggest the poets’ own imagery. Open daily from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm in the Visitor Centre Gallery.
