About

This exhibition is a selection of recent paintings by Lani Shea-An. These artworks explore the broad theme of nature by combining abstract and figurative painting methods and found materials and depicting both real and imagined places. The works reference a range of different landscapes that humans find aesthetically pleasing, from wilderness to manicured suburban gardens. Lani Shea-An is a Canberra-based emerging artist and holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) from the ANU School of Art & Design. She has exhibited in group and solo shows in Canberra, Sydney, Braidwood, and Kyoto. She has work held in private collections in Australia and the UK. The foundation of her studio practice is the selection of used materials. These are collaged and painted to draw attention to their formal qualities and their reflection of the environment, both natural and human-made.
