About

Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) presents Notes from the Field, a gathering of works by recent B-CSC residents who have travelled from across Australia and from around the world. For ten years the tiny alpine village of Bogong, Victoria has been a hub for artists working with sound and experimental visual arts practices. The Bogong Centre for Sound Culture (B-CSC), stationed in Bogong village, has served as a supportive residency and a forum for artists drawn to the area as a geographically isolated site of great natural beauty. As the exhibition title suggests their artistic output takes the form of field work – photographs, installations, maps, drawings, and sound works that have been made in and in response to the landscape of Bogong. Notes from the Field marks Murray Art Museum Albury’s first major exhibition program driven by an artist enterprise from within our region. This significant endeavour highlights the artistic strengths of our region, their diversity, and the capability of artists in regional Australia to develop and foster experimental practices that are world-leading in their vision. Open daily, the museum is the heart of Dean street making it the perfect place to escape the weather, be inspired, meet an artist, get creative, take a break, shop Australian designers, or enjoy a coffee, wine or meal on the gardened terrace. Entry is free.
