About

Join Skywhales for an unforgettable morning with the Skywhale family, as they come to life in a special sunrise event. Skywhale, Skywhalepapa and their nine babies will begin their national tour 'Every Heart Sings' in Albury in April. The sculptures are the creation of artist Patricia Piccinini, and are a beloved part of the collection of the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. Join them on Saturday 17 April at Lavington Sports Ground as these amazing sculptures rise from the ground and take to the skies at sunrise. Come with a blanket, a breakfast picnic and a hot thermos - or enjoy one of the coffee vendors on site! Dress warmly, and bring a camera. You will be able to get up close and personal to the sculptures as they slowly inflate and rise up above you! Gates open at 5.00am. COVID registration will occur at the gate. Skywhale and Skywhalepapa will inflate from 5.15am, and if nature allows it they will take off and fly across the skies of Albury at sunrise (6.39am). The flight will last around 40 minutes before the sculptures come back down to earth out of town. The event concludes around 7.30am. This event is suitable for those with special needs, please contact the team if you have any questions.
