Mushroom Foraging Day Trip

Join their Mushroom Foraging Event where you visit Hampton State Forest under the expert guidance of their mother Maria. She has a life time experience of gathering mushrooms on her parents’ property, pickling and cooking them. As part of this event, they will: - show you what is safe to pick - demonstrate how to prepare, store and cook mushrooms back at the house - offer you some of their traditional and delicious freshly made foods that may include flat breads, zucchini flowers and arancini, as well as some of their “finds” - to keep you going for your drive home! - plus you take home what you find. Meet at their place and you drive yourself to the forest, following their car. They will have room for two passengers in their car. For a group booking of six, leave your car at their house, and let them drive. In the event of bad weather, or last minute road closures, we will run a cooking class at Fifth Ave Katoomba Retreat on all things mushrooms! From mushroom based sauces, button mushrooms filled with pesto, pickled mushrooms and more. Entry Cost Adult $120 - Option A: AUD120 per person Day Trip as outlined. Option B: AUD180 per person Includes overnight accommodation on the night before the foraging trip. Limited availability. A light breakfast is served.
