The Blue Mountains' own Lozz Benson leads her mighty band through the iconic songs and stories of the remarkable, trailblazing women of country music. With their heartfelt lyrics and magnetic personalities, the women of the country music scene were bold, outspoken and strong. 'Women of Country' showcases some of the iconic female voices and songwriters from the 1930s through to the 90s that include Dolly Parton, Kitty Wells, June Carter Cash, Lynn Anderson, Shania Twain, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, LeAnn Rimes, Loretta Lynn, Emmy Lou Harris. As some of the foremothers of country music, these ladies are considered to be not only some of the top singers from a lyrical and popularity standpoint, but also due to their importance in making it culturally acceptable for country music to include females in a male-driven industry. Featuring multi-instrumentalist Lozz Benson (John Butler Trio, The Wiggles, The Voice) on drums, vocals, dulcimer and autoharp leading her band of some of the top country session players in Australia, this collection of songs and stories will have you line dancing and singing along!
