Join Dindima Wines for a unique Winter Fire Festival experience with an Australian Indigenous astronomy and culture focus.
Astronomers, Trevor and Tina Leaman will guide you along your fiery night sky journey kindling your interest in Indigenous skylore. Particular attention will be paid to Aboriginal people's knowledge of the heavens and its relationship to some of their cultural practices.
Afternoon and early evening activities for adults and children will include:
learning how to create fibre arts objects using materials and techniques employed by Indigenous people
an introduction to the Stellarium
a guided wine tasting for adults only
warming fusion comfort food incorporating Australian native products
cross-cultural stargazing.
Provided:
Telescopes.
Fibre arts and astronomy-based craft activities.
Fire pits for keeping warm and toasting marshmallows.
Hot foods including Australian Indigenous flavours
Hot drinks: teas, coffee, hot chocolate, mulled wine.
Available:
Dindima wines for purchase by the bottle from the cellar door (other alcoholic drinks are not permitted on the site).
Poppers and cans of soft drink.
Wear:
Warm clothes, head gear, scarf and gloves
Bring:
Your own telescope and binoculars if you have them, a rug or folding chair and a small torch.
