Girrakool Blues Festival & The Naughty Noodle Fun Haus season of “Blues at The Funhaus” continues with Dom Turner’s (Backsliders) Rural Blues Project “Turner is a phenomenal guitarist – slide and otherwise – and brilliant songwriter with trademark vocals” – Rhythms Magazine A blend of Mississippi hill country blues, delta blues, Piedmont blues, rock, dub and sounds of Asia, Dom Turner is the founding member and key songwriter of the iconic Australian blues group, Backsliders and has appeared at most all major blues related music festivals including Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival and Blues on Broadbeach. With The Rural Blues Project Dom presents a mix of upbeat raw electric rural blues songs—from Charley Patton to Lead Belly, Fred McDowell to RL Burnside as well as original tracks. Joining Dom is the shuffle king himself, legendary drummer Rosscoe Clarke (Foreday Riders, Cyril B Bunter) and you never know; there could be surprise special guests. Highly regarded speaker on blues music and has guested on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio programs and guest presenting Radio National’s ‘Music Deli’) and presented music workshops at festivals and universities (both nationally and internationally).
