About

Daniel Giles OAM and his father Daryl will present Daniel's autism journey from diagnosis until now. This presentation will be of special interest to educators, parents and carers of people on the autism spectrum and family members. Daniel is a 30 year old young man living on the autism spectrum who is a passionate self-advocate. Daniel is actively involved in many roles including the Victorian Disability Advisory Council, the Public Transport Access Group and the City of Greater Bendigo's Disability Inclusion Reference Committee. In 2017 at the age of 27, Daniel received an Order of Australia Medal for his voluntary work in the areas of disability and the underprivileged. He has been speaking at professional development events, to health care workers, educators and families since the age of 13 years old and has a unique ability to give a clear insight of what it is like to live day to day on the autism spectrum as well as strategies that have helped him to manage his autism and achieve great things.
