Japanese Ink Painting Workshop: Sumi-e

Come and learn to create beautiful Japanese ink art! Sumi in Japanese means "ink" and e means "painting". Sumi-e uses various techniques of gradation, shading, bleeding, and blurring. Using different brush techniques, and different mixtures of water and ink, you can create gorgeous mountain scenery, forest vistas, and elegant bamboo stands! Tomoko is a Japanese calligraphy artist based around Sydney and the Central Coast. She will be teaching the basics of sumi-e painting on traditional thin paper. Come and find out more!
