About

Live from the Shellar Door on the banks of the mighty Hawkesbury River, Pearls of Australia and Broken Bay Pearl Farm have launched the first ever virtual pearl harvest. Business owner James Brown takes to the virtual airwaves to share one of nature’s miracles – the harvest of a locally cultured pearl from the Australian Akoya pearl shell, grown in the waters north of Sydney at Broken Bay. Bringing some of his Akoya pearl shell to the harvesting table along with three generations of family pearling expertise (from Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, WA), James reveals a pearl that has been quietly growing for two years. Pearls of Australia will host a series of live broadcasts that cover many aspects of Australia’s incredible pearling industry. This is a sneak-peak into how we cultivate, grow, harvest and grade the pearls from their farms in in NSW and WA. Hear some great stories, meet their crew, enjoy some ‘info-tainment’ and most of all, have some fun with them as they bring Australian pearls to your living room.
