This scenic and family-friendly event gives cyclists of all experience levels the opportunity to ride the 64 kilometres from Newcastle Harbour to the Hunter Valley's vineyards to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
Attracting both competitive cyclists and weekend leisure riders, the Cycle Classic involves a relatively gently climb to the vineyards of the Hunter Valley. There will be two re-hydration stations along the way - the Old Milk Factory at Hexham and at Peace Park, Abermain.
The ride will start with a light breakfast on the Sunday morning at Rydges Newcastle. The event will finish at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley with a lunch for participants and their families. A bus will be available to transport riders and their bikes back to Rydges Newcastle.
A special one kilometre race circuit will be held at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley for children to enter and then join their parents for lunch after the ride.
Included in the Classic Ride registration fee are: light breakfast, refreshing drinks and snacks at the two rest stops, and a barbecue lunch at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley post ride.
Adult $84 - Registration fee covers race entry, breakfast, rest stop refreshments and lunch. Special packages are available via the website for families to attend the barbecue at the end of the race, as well as accommodation over the weekend at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, Novotel Newcastle and Rydges Newcastle.
Child $20 - This includes participation in the cycle race around Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, along with lunch and refreshments.
