THREE SCREENINGS - 10.30am | 1.30pm | 6pm
The real people behind Back to Burgundy (Cinematinee 2018) – those progressive biodynamic and organic winemakers shaking up the status quo of the French wine industry – get their moment of glory in Wine Calling.
This documentary offers ample servings of energy and enthusiasm, as it introduces us to the renegades – the rebels, the critical thinkers and the ethically minded – who have waged something of a revolution in Catalonia, in the south of France, as part of a rising global movement in improved taste and sustainability. In doing so, they’ve chosen the hard road but one of immeasurable satisfaction. As one of the winemakers confesses, “I’m giving birth; that’s what it’s like.”
“This Intoxicating documentary shows them at work, where there is a wonderful sense of solidarity, but also with family, friends, all cast within a happy atmosphere: it makes you want to support them, taste all their different wines and even drop everything to re-join them and like them, change our path of life. ” – Le Parisien
