About

Coffs Harbour Libraries are proud to bring you the 2020 Australian Poetry Slam (APS) regional heats in conjunction with the Word Travels team. This year the APS will be performed via Zoom as an online platform.

Performers are allocated two minutes to wow the audiences and judges with their creative masterpiece. Your work must be your own original composition and could be a rap, a story, a poem - however you choose to inspire your audience! Five judges will be chosen by random by the host from the audience. The performer(s) with the highest scores in each heat will proceed to their State, Territory or Regional Final with the regional finalists battling it out at the National Championships later this year.

A workshop will be held prior to the slam to help you perfect your creation, rev your imagination into overdrive and hone your performance for the live event.

Could you be the next Australian Poetry Slam Champion? The 2019 national winner was wani Le Frère,who is Indigenous to the Ba Shi peoples of Walungu.

Bookings are essential.

Note: There will be two types of tickets available: Audience Registration and Poet Registration. Poet Registration is for local people who want to participate in the slam and is limited to 20 participants. Audience Registration is for those who want to watch the performances and is limited to 80. People will only be able to register for one ticket each.
