About the Event
About
From 8 October to 17 December 2021, a major exhibition - We Are Georges River - presents the civic and social histories, people, places and events of the south of Sydney will launch for the first time, both online and in real form.
And from 11 October their open-air exhibition will begin its travels!
This exhibition captures the cultural diversity of the George River area, with a collection of more than 200 vintage images and stories from our LGA's First Nations, Chinese and European communities – many of which will be made public for the first time.
Launched for the first time, the collection will be available online and as part of an open-air display of larger-than-life images depicting life and transformation since the turn of the 20th Century.
The exhibition is set to tour Oatley Memorial Gardens, Hurstville Plaza, Olds Park in Penshurst, Hogben Park in Kogarah and Carss Bush Park.
They also encourage if you have your own photographs and stories about your connection to the Georges River area to share them. You can help us capture the diverse experiences and voices of the community. Contributions that help tell the story of the area will be included in the enduring We Are Georges River digital collection for everyone to discover.
