About the Event
About
Join a guided mushroom foraging tour with an experienced forager for a great opportunity to learn how to find, pick and process wild edible mushrooms.
You will see how to identify and collect edible mushrooms, process and preserve the bounty. Your guide will teach you how to safely recognise and pick them and will check what you've got in your basket.
It is a self-drive tour. We meet at Hampton beyond the Blue Mountains and from there go to pine forests along Jenolan Cave Road.
Also included in the ticket price are:
- fresh barbecue lunch from the day’s bounty - pan-fried mushrooms, fresh sourdough bread and nutritious rice salads
- mini-workshop on preserving mushrooms
- fact sheet about two species of mushrooms (via email)
- recipes for preserving
(children under 12 only AUD5 for lunch, paid in cash on the day)
You will return home not only with what you found but also with the confidence to safely recognise two varieties of wild edible mushrooms and knowledge about how to preserve them. What you learn at the tour will allow you to go to the pine forests to collect these mushrooms by yourself in years to come!
*** COVID safety rules apply: wear a mask while gathering as a group, keep a 1.5-metre distance from others, use hand sanitisers ***
Entry Cost
