Australia’s iconic female Indigenous entertainer, Christine Anu, is coming to Newcastle for a one-night only performance on July 20.    The multi award-winning entertainer will perform a selection of songs from her acclaimed music career and from the Torres Strait Islands when she takes to the stage at Lizotte’s for her most intimate show to-date, Christine Anu: In Song and Conversation.   She will also share personal anecdotes from her career and talk about the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language in Australian culture.  Apart from touring the country with her latest show, Christine has also made widely acclaimed appearances in major films and television series including Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge, The Matrix Reloaded, Black Comedy, Dance Academy, Outland and the ABC iview comedy series, Kiki and Kitty.   Christine has also performed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Closing Ceremony and she was bestowed the honour of flicking the switch to launch the Australian TV channel, National Indigenous Television. Plus, her chart-topping hit, My Island Home, was selected by the National Film and Sound Archives to be inducted into the Sounds of Australia Registry. Entry Cost All tickets $40
