About

This vivacious program finds them in their element. Presented in association with Musica Viva Australia. Doors open 6pm, performance begins at 6.30pm. This vivacious program finds them in their element: Percy Grainger’s delicious Walking Tune and Júlio Medaglia’s exuberant South American-flavoured suite bookend two classics of the genre in Taffanel’s G minor Quintet and Barber’s beautiful, evocative Summer Music. Kiran Phatak, flute. David Reichelt, oboe. Lloyd van’t Hoff, clarinet. Rachel Shaw, horn. Matthew Kneale, bassoon. Musica Viva’s inaugural FutureMakers (2016/17), Arcadia Winds are making a great career for themselves. Since their ‘graduation’ from this innovative musical leadership program at the end of 2017, this superb group of musicians have released their eponymous debut EP, launched their own Australian composition prize, and are developing a unique online portal for Australian wind music. “As Arcadia Winds took to the stage…I realised I was about to become part of something very special.” – CutCommon “Captivating from the moment they took to the stage. Playing with great gusto and passion, these five uber talented musicians…stole the hearts of everyone in the crowd.” – The Adelaide Review
