About

The convict women who lived and worked in the Parramatta Female Factory are revealed in the exhibition in the Lucas Gallery of Hambledon Cottage Museum. The Female Factory Story with Reverend Samuel Marsden and his quest for better conditions for the convict women. He performed marriage ceremonies for Parramatta Female Factory women at St John's church and baptised many of their children. He was influenced by Elizabeth Fry who tirelessly worked for prison reform in England. Volunteer guides of Parramatta and District Historical Society personally conduct Heritage and Historical tours of the furnished cottage and exhibition, and bring the life and times of people from the pages of history vividly into today's reality. Come to Hambledon Cottage Museum, Gregory Place, Parramatta by ferry, bus, train or car. Free parking in the grounds.
