Catch and Release with barbless hooks every Tuesday at the Regatta Centre. Get hooked on Family Fishing. Bring your friends or family, or simply join the fishing family at the Sydney International Regatta Centre for catch and release fishing with barbless hooks. Enter via Gate A, Old Castlereagh Road, drive over the bridge and turn left into the car park where you will spot the volunteers. Introduce yourself if you are a first timer for a brief induction and paperwork, then you are right to go! The friendly volunteers can assist with pointing out the best spots, and always have a great story to share! There are currently nine species of freshwater fish at the Lakes, including Australian bass, freshwater catfish, long-finned eel and carp. Fishing licence required (available online and at various local outlets) be willing to release any fish you catch, and are required to bring your own equipment. (Rod, Reel, barbless hooks, bait like corn, bread and / or worms. - No live bait) The program is coordinated by the SIRC and supervised on the day by Department of Primary Industry Fishing Volunteers.
