About
Do you worry about feeding your chooks "fast food" pellets? You don't have to worry. You can spend a few fun and very pleasant hours on our small village farm and learn to make your GMO soy free nutritionally balanced chicken feed - because meeting the nutritional needs of your hens is the most important aspect of their health and well being, and it gets you the best tasting egg ever!
Pellets and scratch mix are the fast food poultry feed. Most poultry keepers rely on pelleted feeds, many of which do not meet optimal nutrient requirements. Before stockfeed manufactures introduced pellets, poultry feed was a whole grain and ground grain dry feed ration that you mixed with water (mash). Pellets originate as this dry feed ration which is mixed, heated and extruded. This may make the feed more convenient for the poultry keeper but does not necessarily improve the quality of the ration for your hens.
In this class we will show you how to simply make your own adult chicken mash from ingredients commonly available at Rural or Stock Feed stores. The use of both formulae mean you can vary your feed to take advantage of ingredient availability and prices, and avoid using GMO modified soy bean as a protein supplement. It is so flexible.
