About
In this three-part course, you will be using clothing you already own and with a bit of practice, you will be able to fix and up-cycle almost anything!
This trio of workshops focuses on hand stitching – as not everyone has access to a sewing machine – but it is quite simple and inexpensive to obtain hand sewing equipment.
For this class, you can use your pieces of clothing or hand me downs/ups/across or just op shop buys that need to be adjusted to fit better. Your teacher will guide you on how to use visible mending and simple hand stitching to repair your clothing so they will have a new lease of life!
Some of the methods you will learn are sewing on buttons, basic hemming, Boro Stitching, slip stitching, patching and reinforcing with fabric. We will also look at dyeing and over-dyeing as a method to up-cycle clothing (the dye will be supplied). As well as all the above, you will learn simple embroidery stitches to embellish your repairs to make the finished pieces unique.
