About

As the sun sets on the darkest day of the year, this engaging and interactive performance will get you thinking… and moving. Developed with audiences at the Museum of Contemporary Art, CREATION is a joyous collective ritual that centres around a queer, science fiction, climate-change religion. Audiences are encouraged to wear white and get involved! Throughout the month of June, join banner making workshops with Kasi Albert and James (5, 6, 12,13 June) and dance workshops with Angela Goh (6,12, 20 June). Instigated by Australian artist Deborah Kelly in collaboration with a host of artists, musicians, poets and friends, CREATION is currently being presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art as part of The National: New Australian Art exhibition. It is focused on the instigation of a new, crowd-sourced faith, which is facing the climate crisis with collective creativity. Surviving fires, floods, fevers, and leadership failure, artists and communities are building this new belief system together. Fusing dance, projections, iconography and music, this performance is a call to take a stand.. and a twirl. Deborah Kelly is a Melbourne-born, Sydney-based artist. For a decade, she has been working with groups of strangers in cities around the world to make experiential collaborations emphasising process, community and aesthetic intensity. Please note: This performance may contain strong language, and will go ahead, rain or shine.
