About

An event for food enthusiasts to experience, celebrate and enjoy food, books and ideas with a program of speakers that includes chefs and cooks, food historians, winemakers and a novelist, farmer and book designer. Food and Words brings together the food book world’s leading authors and chefs as well as writers from genres such as fiction and history who write about food. They also seek out gems from book publisher’s back lists; work that deserves to be dusted off and read. The event delivers a one-of-a-kind experience for consumers to enjoy food, books and ideas. The program features top Sydney chefs Josh Niland (Saint Peter, Fish Butchery), Luke Burgess (ex-Garagistes, 10 William Street), Michael Ryan (Provenance) and Nino Zoccali (Pendolino, La Rosa). Joining them are the wine guys Bryan Martin (Ravensworth and Clonakilla) and David Reist (Clonakilla), a food writer and photographer team; novelist Debra Adelaide, whose characters often cook; social media educator, author and previously Rural Woman of the Year, Sophie Hansen; outstanding young book designer and artist Evi O; food historians Alison Vincent (her research area is food guides of Melbourne and Sydney) and Madeline Shanahan (Christmas); and biodynamic farmer Patrice Newell. Entry Cost All tickets $330 - The event features 12 writers from a variety of genres – cookbooks, history, design, environment, agriculture – in a jam-packed, full-day program. Everything is included: lunch and wine, morning and afternoon tea, all-day refreshments, and the gift of a book.
