Passion, drama, and romantic landscapes in this all-Chopin piano recital. Romantic composers often cultivated works which were deliberately fragmentary, allusive and poetic, in sharp contrast to the formal elaboration of the classical period. Chopin’s short piano works surprised many, composed as miniature jewels, each completely abstract and with its own unique character and form, but never explicitly pictorial or programmatic.
