This piano trio program presents the work of three fascinating composers whose impact was both profound and long-lasting: Amy Beach, Maurice Ravel and Dame Ethel Smyth. At the beginning of the 20th century, Amy Beach was known as the dean of American women composers, and was a national symbol of women's creative power. Englishwoman Dame Ethel Smyth, encouraged by Dvorák and Brahms, and also known to Clara Schumann, was a vigorous member of the suffragette movement. Ravel was likewise a maverick, going against the establishment, and fusing modern elements with baroque, classicism and jazz styles. This concert brings together three of Australia's powerhouse artists - SSO Concertmaster violinist Andrew Haveron; ACO Principal Cello Timo-Veikko Valve; and pianist Kathryn Selby AM. Entry Cost Adult $62 - Full ticket price of $86. Senior ticket price of $84. Student/Pensioner price of $62.
