About

An initiative to draw attention to an ever growing need to stop “the use and throw away habit” As the world struggles under the weight of an ever-increasing quantity of waste on both land and sea our planet is groaning under the weight of rubbish! However, waste can be useful in its reuse especially in the art world. After a successful online exhibition in August 2021, the Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens are excited to present the in-person exhibition which focuses on the recycling and reuse of various materials including plastics, textiles, wood, glass and organic found materials. Many prominent artists are exhibiting including sculptors from Sculpture by the Sea, Wynne Prize finalists and artists who have had work in various museums recently, including the Powerhouse and Maritime Museum. Over 30 artists have used unique and interesting methods in a variety of genres to create the works included in this exhibition. This exhibition supports the artists and raise funds that supports horticulture, conservation, scientific research and education programs within the Botanic Gardens.
