About

The NSW Rural Women’s Gathering is a well-established annual state-wide community event organised by local communities with support from the Rural Women’s Network. Each gathering reflects the unique culture, industry, tourism and environment of the host community. Women’s Gatherings are for all rural women including: farming women; Aboriginal women; women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; mining women; women in the fishing industry; women who live in regional cities, towns and villages; and coast. The 2019 Gathering will be held in the Walcha in the beautiful New England area of mid northern NSW. As well as having a reputation for quality agriculture, Walcha is also known as one of the most art-friendly towns in Australia. With a thriving arts community, Walcha has been able to create a unique Open Air Gallery of Sculptures and Artworks, a must see for any artist or art lover. The community has embraced the artistic reputation, now boasting one public artwork for every 60 of its citizens. The weekend provides an opportunity to explore the amazing Walcha district and for rural women to come together to build resilience, network, learn, share experiences and support each other while gaining access to decision-makers, information and service providers.
