About

Members the Grenfell Stitching Group are from within 100kms of Grenfell and are dedicated patch workers and quilters who come together, share knowledge and work on a variety of creative stitching projects including quilts, clothing, home décor, bags and almost anything that can be made with fabric and thread. During the pandemic, group members turned to their creativity to get them through lockdown and being socially isolated. They used the Grenfell Stitching Group Facebook page and group messages to stay in touch and be inspired. This time has seen a resurgence in the creative arts with virtual classrooms and tutorials on platforms like You Tube and Zoom allowing us to continue to learn and create individual works. Normally, the group host a Quilt Show and Soup Kitchen as part of the Henry Lawson Festival with proceeds in the past donated to community groups such as Lilier Lodge and Care West. This year the group has completed a quilt designed by Katja Marek called The New Hexagon. Each member English paper pieced several hexagons to contribute 52 to the project. They were then joined together and quilted by the group to create the spectacular red, white and black quilt on display. We are now offering this quilt as a special raffle prize with proceeds again donated back to the community. Tickets on sale in the Gallery.
