Be swept into a joyous world of comedy and romance by Ballet Theatre Queensland’s must-see production of Coppélia, a showcase for the talents of Queensland’s finest young dancers. In this classic love-story, a village youth, Franz, falls in love with the beautiful Coppélia, who sits reading on her balcony all day, never speaking to anyone. Swanhilda, Franz's fiancée, becomes jealous, until she discovers that Coppélia isn’t real, but a doll belonging to the eccentric scientist, Doctor Coppélius. Filled with fun, romance, and lots of beautiful ballet, all to the glorious music of Léo Delibes, Coppélia has been a favourite with ballet lovers both young and old, since its first performance in 1870. Join Ballet Theatre Queensland as it celebrates 85 years of magic-making with this joyous production of Coppélia.
