IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please note that due to the COVID-19 crisis, the 2020 Cairns Tropical Writers Festival has been postponed to August 2021.
The Cairns Tropical Writers Festival 2020 will bring a vibrant, engaging and creatively stimulating 3-day cultural event, complemented by topically relevant and other not-to-be missed events in the lead to the main festival event. Writers, readers and storytellers from Far North Queensland, interstate and overseas will come together - with the theme of CHANGE - to network, learn, explore, share experiences and debate about, and across, a wide range of writing genre, forms and content.
Their exciting program, which will include workshops, catered functions, book launches, debates, performances and a number of guest speakers, will showcase the distinct voices of the region and engage a wide audience across age, cultural, nationality and socio-economic groups.
In bringing the community together to celebrate storytelling through writing, reading and viewing, the Cairns Tropical Writers Festival will also provide opportunities for local writers and readers to learn, share skills and network with industry professionals from beyond the region.
