I am a clinical and public health Optometrist committed to Closing the Gap in Vision. I have redesigned a surgical pathway to improve access to cataract surgery for Indigenous Australians in SE Qld, and developed an innovative, sustainable, integrated eye health program within the Community Controlled Health Sector. The novel use of EHealth and collaborative partnerships have been integral factors in the success of these systems. I am a consultant to the Fred Hollows Foundation on a jurisdictional and national level. I am an active member of several working groups in Indigenous health including the Optometry Australia Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee. I am a strong advocate for integration of health services and the inclusion of culture into health programs.
