The Gold Coast NOL Sprint Orienteering Carnival is a series of 4 sprint championship events on university and school campuses plus a middle-distance sand-dune event. All events are in the northern part of the Gold Coast. There are courses for everyone to enjoy: - Elite orienteers will enjoy fast competition in national team selection races and a World-Ranking Event. - Veteran orienteers will relish the brand new maps and an updated sand-dune treasure likely unknown to interstate competitors - Newcomers interested in discovering the sport can try out their navigation skills. All this is in the northern half of the beautiful Gold Coast. Try a new adventure sport! Sprint orienteering features short fast-paced events held in runnable urban environments. It is all about rapid decision making. A sprint course is designed to test your ability to interpret the map in complex environments and to plan and carry out route choices while running as fast as you can. There are courses for all ages, even if your legs don’t move as fast as they used to! The challenge is as much mental as it is physical - a “sprint for the mind”.
