About
Speeding Motorcycles under open tropical skies, at Grasstree Beach, 35 minutes south of Mackay, Central Queensland, first ran in the region back in 1927.
This iconic event is and the only competitive beach motorcycle race in Australia, one of only several in the world. The race attracts around 350 riders, from all around Australia and draws about 5000 spectators to the event. The event caters for thrill seekers, beach goers and provides a family friendly atmosphere.
Organisers, Gum Valley Motorcycle Club coordinate the event with the assistance of many local community groups. Gum Valley Club has a long history of well run high profile events including Australian Motocross titles and the Australian four day Enduro event and will bring their expertise to this experience.
The racing is unique with the final King of the Beach race, a competition between dirt bikes and street bikes. Most machines have been custom built by avid motorcycle fanatics. An awe inspiring sight to see on the beach. There are 13 classes including juniors, seniors, quad bikes and street bikes.
This family friendly event includes entertainment, trials demonstrations, jumping castles, face painting, trade alley and a beach vibe markets.
