About
Join artist and skilled Disability Arts Facilitator Michelle Vine in this sensory-based workshop to co-design and create elements for her upcoming exhibition Soft Touch at Caboolture Regional Art Gallery.
Workshop participants will work with Michelle to design and create elements for an artwork called ‘Touch Play Space’ that will be featured in the exhibition.
Much fun will be had by imagining, experimenting and constructing a range of playful soft sculptural objects using materials such as faux furs, foam and found objects.
The workshops are designed to be accessible to local community members with disabilities or access requirements and their family and friends. For further information to support your attendance at the workshops please contact the gallery via email, phone or in person. Auslan interpreters available upon request.
About the artist
Michelle Vine is an accomplished artist whose artmaking is focused on the senses, especially touch. This interest stems from her lived experience of neurodiversity and chronic illness. She is a skilled Disability Arts Facilitator and is currently training as an Art Therapist at UQ’s School of Clinical Medicine.
About the exhibition
Soft Touch will reimagine gallery spaces as playful and active participatory landscapes that incorporate elements to stimulate and explore the senses beyond sight. Central to the project is engaging community members with experience of disability in the participatory making of work and the exhibition design.
