Immerse yourself in the rich culture and art of the Paroo Shire. Explore local stories through light, music and storytelling and experience the strong connection to water.
The Outback River Lights Festival celebrates the opening of the tourism season in southwest Queensland. Join the locals and guests in exploring through art, music, storytelling and light, what connection to place means in the outback. Meet our local Elders while being immersed in Kunja culture, hear stories about growing up in Cunnamulla and on the Yumba.
Be serenaded by local and international musicians or join in some community singing at the pub. Learn how to fire twirl, build and decorate your own lantern and join in the lantern procession which culminates in a spectacular light show on the Warrego River.
