Chris De Rosa | Explore sea living organisms to create print-based works workshop

Explore a range of drawing, image transfer, embossing and lino-printing techniques in this one-off workshop with SA artist, Chris De Rosa. Participants in this workshop will examine and develop imagery inspired by the minutiae of sea living organisms to create an individual and collaborative print-based work. De Rosa has built her artistic practice researching, collecting and observing terrestrial and sea-based organisms. Through printmaking, installation and sculpture, she examines our physical, cultural and conflicting relationship to the natural world. During the workshop, De Rosa will share and discuss the concepts that underpin her practice and the processes she employs in her work. Chris De Rosa has lived in coastal Port Elliot for twenty years where she swims almost daily and dives into another world full of organisms “rich and strange”. Her practice explores notions of art, science, and imagination. Through printmaking, installation and sculpture, she examines our physical, cultural and conflicting relationship to the natural world. Exploring historical collections and archives is a core element in De Rosa’s practice. She has undertaken a number of research projects at the Natural History Museum, London, Stazione Zoologica Anton Dhorn, Naples, Melbourne Herbarium, and is currently studying the collections at the Museum of Economic Botany and the South Australian Museum. She is currently undertaking a Guildhouse Catapult mentorship with Brent Walter at Negative Press Melbourne. Entry Cost Adult $89 Concession $69
