About the Event
About
Make a beautiful, lined, leather tote bag using leathers of different colours and effects, such as iridescent leather, crocodile print, lizard print, snake print, fish skin, florals, pebbles. Learn to handle, cut and stitch leather, make straps, insert purses and zips. The tutor, Yvonne Twining, will provide a template you can personalise with some variations, choice of leathers, or inclusion of a decorative artwork, such as embroidered panel.
Yvonne has worked with leather for over forty years, delving into most aspects of this fascinating craft including bags, footwear and sculpture. Her work has been exhibited throughout Australia & New Zealand and she has broad teaching experience. Under her skillful guidance, you will construct a beautiful and unique bag of which you can be proud and learn skills that will last you a lifetime, enabling you to make many more bags. This is a small-group workshop: don't miss out!
Note: The workshop fee of $325 covers tuition, use of tools, lunch and refreshments. An additional $95 is payable to the tutor to covers all materials - leathers (outer & lining), all bag components (internal stiffening, bag feet, zips), plus two leather-point needles, sizes 16 and 19, two spools of strong thread - and Yvonne’s charge of $30 for pre-cutting the main leather components of your bag.
