About

What started as a little winter event to engage our youth in storytelling and entertain the broader community has evolved into an international film festival on Flinders Island. From the first-time filmmaker to the seasoned professional, Flinders Flicks is open to everyone. The rules are simple: Films can be any genre, Films must be under 3 minutes long and include titles and credits, Films must include the ‘Flinders Flicks theme’ in the film, this year the theme is CYCLE and interpretation is entirely up to the Filmmaker The gala event – the showing and judging of films is on Friday on 13th August at the Furneaux Arts & Entertainment Centre. It’s a free community event the whole island attends! A panel of judges will choose the "Best Festival Film", "Best Use of the Theme Award" & "Judges Encouragement Award " the audience plays the important role of critic to select the "Peoples Choice Award" with prizes being awarded to these films. Flinders Flicks is possible with generous support from local Flinders Island businesses, Flinders Council and Furneaux Community Arts.
