About

The National Trust Anderson’s Mill Heritage Weekend has taken place in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Attendances rose from 2,000 to 5,000. The event features the heritage qualities of Anderson’s Mill and features historical, cultural and artistic activities. The Victorian Quilters Inc have displayed heritage quilts and taught related skills. The quilts are hung inside the blue stone section of the mill and highlight the potential of the mill as a unique and atmospheric space for artistic exhibitions. The Needlework Tool Collectors Society of Victoria exhibits. Local artists have demonstrated print making, drawing, weaving, embroidery skills and acoustic music. Regional Arts Victoria has supported the event. Traditional flour milling demonstrations. Heritage crafts have been on display, with a local blacksmith. and the Odd Sockery who demonstrate their 1904 circular sock machine. The Ballarat and Talbot Engine clubs provide a glimpse into our industrial cultural heritage. The heritage of Smeaton past is on show in the historical display in the original office, along with Anderson Mill tours and the operation of the waterwheel by Parks Victoria.
