“Changing Communities. Changing Lives”

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN for the Annual Busselton Dunsborough Volunteer of the Year Awards - Celebrating the contribution of our local volunteers
The Busselton Dunsborough Volunteer Centre in conjunction with the City of Busselton is proud to be hosting the annual Volunteer of the Year recognition awards for Busselton and Dunsborough. In 2019 and continuing in 2020 the heroic efforts of our emergency service volunteers has been critical to the safety and recovery of fire affected communities across Australia. Thousands of people each year access, and rely on, critical services run by Volunteer Involving Organisations some of these are large visible organisations and others are small dedicated service and support groups run completely by volunteers. The awards are in their fifth year and they aim to acknowledge the enormous value volunteers add to our community by recognising the exceptional and outstanding contribution of time, work skills, life experience, continued support and commitment particular individuals have made.

The awards will coincide with National Volunteer Week held between the 18th and 24th May 2019 with the theme “Changing Communities. Changing Lives”. The awards consist of five categories; The Lions Club of Busselton Volunteer with Less than 3 Years Service award, the retraVison Open Award, the Geographe Camping and Tackle World Seniors Award, the Apex Youth Award and the Rotary Tourism & Events Award with prizes totalling $300 in each category on offer. Additionally, MLA Libby Mettam will sponsor a ‘Highly Recommended” award in each of the five award categories.

The Awards will be presented at the Volunteer Awards Celebration to be held on Monday 18th May in the Civic Reception room, City of Busselton. Nominations will be assessed by the Volunteer of the Year Awards Selection Committee consisting of prominent members of our City.

Any member of the public can nominate a volunteer as long as they have the consent of the volunteer and the volunteer is associated with a not-for-profit organisation. Let’s make this year’s awards the best ever nominate a volunteer now.
