About

Wayne Kelly and Greg Stott will perform at Tuggeranong Arts Centre for the July Lakeside at 5 event. Come and relax by Lake Tuggeranong with a glass of wine and live music by some of Canberra’s most treasured jazz artists, who between them, bring decades of professional experience at the highest level.

Wayne Kelly (piano) and Greg Stott (guitar) have been performing together for close to three decades, forming a dynamic musical partnership grounded in deep musical trust and shared improvisational spirit. Drawing on influences from jazz, pop, Latin, funk, and global grooves, their performances take audiences on a rich journey through reimagined standards from the American songbook, inventive interpretations of contemporary songs, and original works delivered with soul, finesse, and masterful interplay.

Wayne Kelly is an acclaimed Australian jazz pianist whose career spans over 35 years, with performances alongside international artists including Wynton Marsalis, James Morrison, and Don Burrows. He has held long-running residencies in Canberra venues such as Tilley’s and the Ainslie Football & Social Club, and has performed extensively across Asia, including residencies in Macau, Shanghai, and Beijing. His work as a leader and composer includes award-winning performances and recordings such as In My Quiet Hour, Wayne Plays the Duke, and appearances on ABC Jazz releases.

Greg Stott is a guitarist, composer, and lecturer in guitar at the Australian National University, and a prominent figure in the Australian jazz scene. He has performed and recorded with leading artists including Andrew Gander, Miroslav Bukovsky, John Mackey, and Wayne Kelly, among many others. As musical director of the Test Pilots Big Band, he showcases his original compositions and continues to expand his creative output, including a forthcoming duo recording with Kelly that further documents their long-standing musical collaboration.

Together, Kelly and Stott present a refined and expressive duo experience—intimate, adventurous, and deeply rooted in the jazz tradition while embracing contemporary musical storytelling.
