About

The smell of resin is in the air The Slim Dusty Centre presents ‘Where the Sky Meets the Sea’ - a major, two month long exhibition in celebration of the ocean based lifestyle of Crescent Head. The exhibition will showcase indigenous coastal activities, the fishermen, lifesaving and, of course, a major display of Crescent Heads surfing history. This exhibition will also incorporate the Crescent Head Surf Art Exhibition, a major art show attracting artists Australia wide. The surfing history component, up to modern times, will include historic boards, interviews, memorabilia, movies, artwork, lots of photos from Albe Falzon, Bob Weekes and many more from the locals’ private albums. As part of the display, a section of the historic Crescent Head weather shed will be reconstructed. This legendary 100 foot long structure was used by a generation of surfers from the 60's to camp in and watch the surf peeling down the iconic point. Learn how boards are made with a mock up of shaping and glassing bays, including an expo on local manufacturers with a host of new boards on display and for sale. Manufacturers will include Shane Surfboards, Bob Kennerson Longboards, Peter Cornish and others of note. Due to current advice on public gatherings, please contact the host of this event to confirm it is proceeding as planned.
