About

Liverpool Performing Arts Ensemble shed light on the dark past of Western Sydney in Alana Valentine's Parramatta Girls, a challenging and confronting play of real stories of female inmates from the Girls Training School in Parramatta. The story revolves around the fortieth reunion of eight former inmates of the Parramatta Girls Home – a harsh detention centre for girls, which ran from 1947 - 1974. This play records the experiences of and the abuse suffered by young girls and women, many of whom were Indigenous, specifically of the Stolen Generation. Today, a periodic detention centre for women (not juveniles), the Norma Parker Detention Centre for Women, exists on the site. Entry Cost Adult $25 - Ages 15+
