Phoenix Collective’s Baroque concerts are diverse and unique. Works by master composers such as J.S Bach and Vivaldi but also featuring fascinatingly ‘out-there and unknown’ composers like Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber and Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi.
Experience Biber’s use of scordatura, the technique of altering the normal tuning of a stringed instrument to produce unusual effects and colours. Played on circa.1750 Tyrolean violin tuned A415 with gut strings and baroque bow. Phoenix Collective also has access to a stunning replica 1710 French double manual harpsichord by Australian master instrument builder, Carey Beebe.
