About
Put together such talented First Nations performers such as Statesman of Jazz Johnny Nicol, Kevin Hunt, The Stiff Gins (Nardi Simpson and Kaleena Briggs), well-known R&B Rap singer Radical Son, Michael Birk, GiiMusic, Nadeena Dixon and Aleta Wassell and you get the performers at this year’s Singing Up Country event.
Yaegl musician and local resident, Michael Birk first kicked this event off in partnership with the Frenchs Forest Parish Social Justice Group at St Anthony in the Fields church, Terrey Hills in 2015. People from across Greater Sydney now come to enjoy the range of First Nations musicians and others expressing their stories, culture and Spirit of Country.
The afternoon will begin at 2.45pm with Listening to Country as Uncle Dennis Foley shares his knowledge about the area including Kierans Creek. People are invited to walk with Uncle Dennis and the St Anthonys Kierans Creek Landcare Group around the revegetation area of the creek riparian zone as they work to heal Country. There will be displays by BushToBowl. This segment is free.
