Taylor Davis - Piano Rob Hamilton - Double Bass Liam Hogan - Drums JAHL is a new ensemble co-led by Harry Sutherland on piano and Lachy Hamilton on tenor saxophone with Jacques Emery on double bass and Alex Inman-Hislop on drums. The band formed after playing in various formats as part of the Sydney jazz and improvised music scene. Individually the musicians have been recognised as Freedman Jazz Fellowship finalists and BBM Youth Support awardees and have played with The Australian Art Orchestra, Matt Corby, Ben Hauptmann, Patti Austin, Zela Margossian Quintet among countless others. Harry and Lachy's compositions draw on a conglomerate of influences from the jazz tradition, French impressionism and chess openings. The music is treated by the band with a unique collaborative approach and a curiosity for exploration.
