Wollongong Botanic Garden will join more than 70 Botanic Garden’s throughout Australia New Zealand and the Asia Pacific on Sunday 27 May for the second Botanic Garden (Australia/New Zealand) Day. To celebrate the day and learn more about conservation, Wollongong Botanic Garden staff will run a number of free activities from 10am until 2pm including Interactive talks and tours including: The Bush Tucker Garden; A Habitat Garden (covering the open forest and grassland and the rainforest); The Palm Garden; Behind the scenes nursery tour; Talk to staff about local seed production and collection. There will also be interactive fun at the Discovery Centre where you can make a seed bomb, enjoy a kitchen garden smoothie and learn about keeping chickens and how to make a recycled bird feeder. General Garden Buggy Tours will also be conducted by The Friends of Wollongong Botanic Garden, along with plants for sale from the Greenplan Nursery. There will be a coffee van on-site and Rotary have available for purchase: bacon and egg rolls, sausage sizzle and Scones with jam and cream with a cup of tea. Bring a picnic and join in the fun!
