About

After moving to the sunny Gold Coast in 2015, the Australian Open has become a true festival of bowls, with 14 days of action played across the 14 host clubs on the Gold Coast. Over 2,500 bowlers from across Australia, and indeed the world are expected to attend again, with entry being completely open to any registered bowler! Not only is the Australian Open the World's Biggest Bowls Festival, it is also the richest bowls event in the world with a staggering total of over AUD$270,000 prize money across the 13 disciplines. Australian Open fast facts: A completely open-to-enter event with no qualifying; Sectional rounds played in each discipline initially, with qualifiers progressing through to knockouts; Completely random draw - no seedings in either sectional or knockout play; Up to 15 hosts clubs; 14 days of competition; 13 disciplines with a total prize pool of over AUD$270,000; Over 500 prize money places across all disciplines. A true festival atmosphere, with live events and "Mega Bowl" events; Two days of finals filmed and broadcast on Fox Sports.
